The Advanced Diploma is a one-year online course and may be used for professional development. Successful participants will gain practical skills to progress their careers either within the computing industry or in the application of computers within other professional disciplines. This part-time course is at third-year undergraduate level (FHEQ level 6), and its theme is the analysis and design of practical real-life computing applications. The course will be of interest to people from a wide range of backgrounds and professions, looking to further their knowledge and develop their careers. In 2013 we surveyed all students of the course from the previous three years; 72% rated the course as 'very good', 28% rated it as 'good'

Unit 5: Team Project

The team project involves students in working together in teams of 3-5 on the analysis and design of a small computer system. Teams are required to make a number of detailed submissions and work to tight deadlines. 50% of the assessment for this unit comes from the team, and the other 50% is individual. Prospective applicants should note that it is a course requirement that students participate fully in the team working unit.

Student Loans for students on Undergraduate Award Bearing Courses, including the Certificate of Higher Education

Students on Undergraduate Award Bearing courses who do not have an undergraduate degree are eligible to apply for a non means-tested student loan for all or part of their fees. If you apply for a student loan for all or part of your fees you may still apply for a Departmental bursary if you are on a low income (see below).

Departmental bursaries for those on Award Bearing Courses

If you are on a low income or certain income-related benefits you may be eligible to apply for a Departmental bursary, whether you have an undergraduate degree or not, and whether or not you also apply for a student loan.

Access to Learning Fund for those on Award Bearing Courses

The government provides the University with funds to help students on very low incomes with childcare and course costs. Access to Learning Fund grants cannot be used for paying tuition fees.
