The Hochschule Niederrhein (HN) primarily aims to deliver: practice-orientated academic training applied research and development technology transfer extensive international collaboration HN offers around 51 Bachelor's and 29 Master's programmes. The Hochschule Niederrhein attaches importance to giving its first-year students a thorough introduction to the university and academic life. Students learn in small groups, which ensures that graduates can advance quickly and smoothly into their aspired career. The Hochschule Niederrhein has around 14,500 students, of which some 3,200 are first-year students, making it one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Germany. Today, HN is a regional university with a national and international reputation. An above average proportion of women (50.8%) and foreigners (10%) are enrolled at the Hochschule Niederrhein. The foreign students come from some 100 countries. The 10 faculties at the Hochschule Niederrhein are located at the campus in Krefeld or in Mönchengladbach. At the start of the winter semester, GLOBUS organises Welcome Days for all international first-year students. In the summer semester there is also a small welcome programme.
