It’s also an optimal decision if you are planning to start a career in public sector, government, politics or international organization. Given the wide array of possible specializations, degree in Social Sciences gives you an opportunity to choose among very different career paths. For instance, undergraduate degree in Social Sciences is good way to get into Law or Business School in order to boost you future career.

In the United States, Master’s degree in Social Sciences are not widespread: those who want to pursue an academic career usually choose PhD program (PhD in Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology etc.), which incorporate advanced classes in one or several disciplines during the first two years and intensive thesis writing afterwards. Those who are not interested in academic career usually choose between numerous professional schools, such as business schools, law schools, public policy schools, schools of journalism etc. These degrees are more focused and give students not only academic knowledge, but also useful professional skills.

The situation in Europe is slightly different. It is more typical to get your master’s degree in Political Science or Sociology and then to start a professional career. Master’s degree here does not necessarily mean that you are going to be a scholar, it’s rather a way to deepen your knowledge.
