The Doctor of Education is both theoretically and conceptually stimulating, giving experienced practitioners the opportunity to complete a research degree focusing on areas of special interest and expertise.
The degree is offered online or on-campus and provides ample opportunity for one-on-one interactions with doctoral supervisors and fellow students in vibrant online communities or face to face interactions.

An externally examined research dissertation or folio, comprising 16 units
if students also take two units of electives, or 18 units if no electives are taken.
Entry requirements
- Completed a Masters with a ‘credit’ average or an undergraduate Honours (I or IIa) degree, or equivalent qualification in Education or a cognate field relevant to the proposed area of study from a recognised university
- Documented record of (normally) 3 years full-time equivalent of professional or teaching experience in a field relevant to the proposed area of study and be currently or recently employed in professional practice.
Admission to all graduate programs is highly competitive owing to limited enrolment capacities. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.
English Language Requirements
Domestic and international students from a non-English speaking background are required to satisfy English Language requirements. This program requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.
