Description

Optional modules allow you to enrich your study of English language and literature alongside like-minded students and within a creative and supportive environment. Options include ‘Introduction to Media Language’, ‘Language and Power’ and ‘Style in Science Fiction and Fantasy’.

Teaching at Sunderland is enhanced by staff research, some of which has been classed as ‘world-leading’ by the latest Research Assessment Exercise, and the English team is recognised as one of the top research teams in the University.

Throughout the course we encourage you to become culturally empowered and highly articulate. In the final year you will enhance transferable skills in research through writing a 6,000 word dissertation on a topic of your choice.

English is taught within our Faculty of Education and Society and, according to the Student Experience Survey of 2010, 91% of the Faculty’s students would recommend the University to others.
