Tourism Management

Lincoln's Bachelor of Tourism Management degree focuses on tourism in relation to people and places as well as businesses and has been designed with industry consultation. Tourism (domestic and international) is one of New Zealand’s and the world’s most rapidly growing industries and there is an increasing demand for university graduates who have a specialised understanding of the requirements of this diverse and exciting sector.

Entry Requirements: Undergraduate

To enrol at Lincoln University you must be at least 16 years of age by 1st of January of the year in which you commence your study.

To gain entrance to a bachelor's degree or undergraduate diploma at Lincoln you must be eligible through one of the following categories:

• University Entrance through NCEA;
• International qualifications;
• Special admission.

International students should have a completed qualification which is recognised as being equivalent to the New Zealand common entrance standard.

English Language Requirement

Tuition for every course offered by Lincoln University is conducted in the English Language.  Within some courses, part of the tuition may be taught in Te Reo Māori.  Lincoln University requires all applicants to have an English language competency sufficient for academic purposes. Therefore all students whose first language is other than English need to satisfy Lincoln University’s English language requirements.

Approved English language tests with the required levels for Undergraduate degrees are shown below:

• Lincoln University: English for Academic Purposes: 65%;
• IELTS (Academic): 6.0 no individual band less than 5.5;
• TOEFL: 79 iBT, 550 paper, 213 Computer, Essay Rating (TWE) 4.5.

Scholarships

Lincoln University Gap Year Scholarship

Scholarships are available to students who demonstrate academic merit and who have had a break of at least six months after completing secondary school. Value: Up to $4,500 towards tuition fees. Tenure: One year.

Lincoln University Inclusive Education Undergraduate Award

One scholarship is available annually to a student who has a disability, injury or illness. Value: $3,000. Tenure: One year.

New Zealand Pacific Scholarship

The New Zealand Pacific Scholarships scheme recognises the very close personal, cultural, and economic ties that New Zealand enjoys with Pacific countries. A particular focus of the scheme is to increase the number of young students and high academic achievers studying in New Zealand and to build a new generation of Pacific leadership with strong links to New Zealand.

Lincoln University Global Challenges Scholarship

Successful applicants will participate in the Global Challenge programme which will be provided by Lincoln University. This will comprise a series of planned activities throughout the academic year as well as individual and group projects. For School Leavers or students who have had a gap year and for new to Lincoln students only.

Study Abroad Programme

For international students our Study Abroad programme allows you to come to Lincoln for a semester or a year, and transfer the credit back to your degree at home. As New Zealand’s specialist land-based university, with a dedicated mission to help Feed the World, Protect the Future, and Live Well on our planet, we have tailored a range of specific courses for study abroad students who are interested in the Global Challenges the world faces.

Courses

Depending on your academic background, you can choose from any of the courses in our faculties.  Although we have three themes of courses around our Global Challenge programmes, you can also choose your own adventure by looking at all our courses. 

Duration

You can study abroad with us for either one semester or a full academic year. Most courses are taught over one semester.

Visas and insurance

As a Study Abroad student, you will need to obtain a student visa prior to departure from your home country. You must also have medical and travel insurance for the duration of your study.
