A combined Masters in Business Administration/Applied Finance can equip finance professionals with the knowledge and skills required for success as a senior executive.

The combined Masters in Business Administration and Applied Finance incorporates a problem based learning approach to develop graduates with technical proficiency and expertise in applied finance as well as enhancing knowledge and understanding from the perspective of the entire organisation. This program has been strategically developed and will challenge your approach to leadership, enhance your ability to think and act analytically as well as master your strategic financial management capabilities.

You will develop an advanced understanding and application of accounting, organisational behavior, human resource management, marketing, management, finance, financial markets and investing. You will learn to understand and apply well-established theoretical management and financial management frameworks and practical business skills which are transferable to all areas of business - including the ability to effectively manage portfolios of assets, solve financial problems, communicate business recommendations to a professional audience, and manage a team effectively.

There are two pathways into the Master of Business Administration/Master of Applied Finance. Direct entry into the Masters Program (120 units) will be available for applicants who have: • 3 year Bachelors Degree in the discipline; or • 3 year Bachelors Degree not in the discipline + 1 year relevant business experience; or • At least 7 years business experience, including 2 years in a management position.Students entering via this pathway are able to complete 4 courses per trimester, and are able to complete courses in any sequence they wish, that is consistent with course prerequisites. Applicants with an Honours degree in the cognate area or equivalent relevant qualifications at level 8 or above will be given appropriate recognition of prior learning.The alternate pathway is through the Graduate Certificate (40 units) which will be available for applicants who have: • 3 year Bachelors Degree not in the discipline; or • 3 year Diploma in the discipline; or • 3 year Diploma not in the discipline + 1 year relevant business experience; or • 2 year Diploma in the discipline + 2 years relevant business experience; or • 2 year Diploma not in the discipline + 3 years relevant business experience; or • At least 5 years business experience.Students entering via this pathway will be required to: • Complete the Graduate Certificate over a minimum of two trimesters (typically 20 units per trimester); and • Successfully complete a “Business Academic Skills Program” (BASP) which will be of 6 weeks duration. The BASP will be non-fee based and can be completed concurrently with courses in the Graduate Certificate.Only after the successful completion of the Graduate Certificate and the academic skills program will students be eligible to formally enrol in the Masters Program. English Language Requirements IELTS band: 6.5 Work Experience At least 7 year(s) of work experience is required.

FEE-HELP Information

FEE-HELP is a loan scheme that assists eligible fee paying domestic students pay all or part of their tuition fees. It cannot be used for additional study costs such as accommodation or text books.

Am I eligible for FEE-HELP?

Important Information: Changes to Legislation - Higher Education Support Amendment (Student Contribution Amounts and Other Measures) Bill 2012.

Recent changes to legislation will impact Australian Citizens who are enrolling for the first time into a new program from 01 January 2013, and who will not be residing in Australia for at least the study period for one unit of study within the program. If you are in this category then you will not be eligible for Commonwealth support and/or HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP loan. You will be charged at the full fee tuition rate as set by the University for your study and will be responsible for the payment of these fees to the University.

If you are continuing in your current program you will continue to be eligible for Commonwealth support and HELP loans.

If you are a New Zealand citizen, or an Australian permanent resident who will not be located within Australia for the duration of your study, you will not be eligible for Commonwealth assistance.

You are eligible for FEE-HELP if you:

  • meet the citizenship and residency requirements:
    • you are an Australian citizen who will be residing in Australia for at least the study period for one unit of study within that program;or
    • a permanent humanitarian visa holder who will be a resident in Australia for the duration of your study within that program; or
    • you are a permanent visa holder who is undertaking bridging study for overseas-trained professionals, and will be resident in Australia for the duration of the study;
  • are enrolled in an eligible unit of study by the census date for that unit;
    have not exceeded the FEE-HELP limit (see below); and
  • have completed a Commonwealth Assistance Form (eCAF) for FEE-HELP as part of your enrolment; and:
  • you must have provided your valid TFN to the University.

How much can I borrow?

Eligible students can borrow up to the FEE HELP limit to pay their tuition fees.

For 2013, the FEE HELP limit is $116,507 for students undertaking medicine, dentistry and veterinary science courses (as defined in the Higher Education Support Act 2003), and $93,204 for all other students.

Note that the higher FEE HELP limit only applies to courses that lead to initial registration to practise in those fields. The lower limit will apply to any further study you undertake once you have gained the requisite level for initial registration.

Is there a loan fee?

There is a loan fee of 25% for FEE-HELP loans for undergraduate courses of study only. The loan fee does not count towards your FEE-HELP limit.
