The curriculum comprises a programme of coursework which is usually taken in the first twelve months, and in the second 12 months a research report is completed. The coursework component is weighted 50% (or 120 credits) and the research report is also 50% (or 120 credits) of the degree. 

The coursework component includes the following modules (Note that these may not be offered every year and will depend on the number of students enrolled): Students are required to complete 4 modules (of which Research Methods is compulsory):

• Corporate Financial Reporting (ACCN 7010): 30 credits
• Research Methods (ACCN 7012): 30 credits
• Theory of Finance and Corporate Policy (ACCN 7017): 30 credits
• Advanced Management Accounting and Control (ACCN 7018 ): 30 credits
• Auditing (ACCN 7019): 30 credits

Subject to the approval of the Head of the School, an elective course may be taken from other programmes, including those offered by the Wits Business School or the School of education. Research Report: this is weighted 50% of the degree. The choice of a research topic normally indicates a student’s area of specialisation or their major.
Research Report (ACCN 7006): 120 credits

• A bachelors degree with honours or an appropriate postgraduate diploma.
• An applicant to a postgraduate programme who holds a foreign qualification, is required to submit proof of evaluation of the qualification by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
• Attach certified copies of all your programme certificates and a full transcript of your academic record, to your application form. If you have applied for Financial Aid, obtain a separate copy for their records;
• Include all details of courses undertaken and the marks obtained. Any documentation not in English must be translated and sworn to by an authorised translator.
• A pass in the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with a score of at least 7.0. 
• A non-refundable application fee of R200 is required. 
• Certified copies of all your degree certificates and a full academic transcript covering all periods of registration. Include all details of courses undertaken and the marks obtained. Certified copies must bear the original Commissioner of Oaths’ stamp and signature. Any documentation not in English must be translated and sworn to by an authorised translator. Credit certificates are not acceptable.
