This qualification reflects the project functions of workers from the accounting industry, for example BAS Agents and contract bookkeepers; and of the employees performing bookkeeping tasks for businesses in a range of industries. It features lodging and preparing business and instalment activity statements, and providing advice or addressing the Commissioner on behalf of a citizen with regard to activity statements. Individuals in those functions apply theoretical and specialist knowledge and expertise to work autonomously, and exercise judgement in completing regular and non-routine activities.Licensing/Regulatory InformationWork functions from the occupational areas where this qualification might be used are susceptible to regulatory conditions. Check with the FNS Financial Services Training Package Companion Volume Implementation Guide or the relevant ruler for specific guidance on requirements.Persons providing a small business activity statement (BAS) service for a fee or other reward has to be registered by the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) and this qualification is currently cited as fulfilling with the TPB education requirements for registration. Other conditions apply, for example a designated amount of experience. Persons searching BAS broker registration should assess current registration conditions with the TPB, as registration requirements are assessed regularly.
