Course Content

In the first year you will study a range of topics including financial accounting, management accounting, personal finance maths, statistics and business economics, as well as ensuring you have appropriate numeracy and IT skills for further study in accounting and finance.

During the second year there is a greater emphasis in the areas of both accounting and finance within a business context. You will further develop your knowledge of financial and management accounting together with the principles of finance. As an Accounting and Finance student you can also study Accounting Information Systems which provides great exposure to SAGE and SAP, two accounting information systems used widely by small businesses and major global companies.

In the final year of study a wide range of option subjects in accounting and finance areas are available including International Corporate Reporting, International Taxation, Investment Analysis, Portfolio Management, and International Finance.

Your course will be based on a series of weekly lectures, small group seminars and workshops. Some classes may be held in IT suites where students have individual PCs and work using appropriate software packages, such as SAGE and SAP. In addition, your personal tutor will review and discuss your progress with you and will be available for advice.

Access: The Access Diploma to include 30 Level 3 credits at Merit. Access applicants can meet the GCSE requirements through their current studies and do not need to have these qualifications separately.

Merit Scholarship Scheme

Merit Scholarship scheme: £1,000, in year one only and based on academic performance.

  • Available to all international students applying for full-time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Coventry University.
  • Scholarships are allocated on the basis of academic merit. (Postgraduate applicants must hold 2.1 or equivalent, undergraduate applicants must hold A-levels or equivalent at grades BBC)
  • There is no separate scholarship application process: all undergraduate applications from self-funded international students from any non-EU country and postgraduate applications from international, will automatically be considered for a merit award. You will not have to do anything, if you are successful you will be notified in due course by the International Office.

University Research Studentship Scheme

Occasionally, funding becomes available to enable the University, either centrally, through one of the faculties or from other sources, to offer research studentships in specified topics or fields of study.
