Description

Combine the study of accounting theory, principles and analysis with the key aspects of management practices.

At Kent Business School, we have designed the Accounting and Management with a Year in Industry degree to ensure that it responds to the needs and expectations of the modern accountancy and management professions. This programme equips you with knowledge, understanding and skills relevant to a career in accounting or management as well as for professional training in accounting.

You will spend a year on a professional work placement and also can combine accounting modules with related subjects including a wide range of business management modules.

Professional work placements provide an enjoyable yet indispensable first-hand experience of the specific job function, organisation and industry you choose, deepening your understanding of how business really works before you enter the job market as a graduate.

With more students attending university, competition for graduate employment remains fierce, so by combining your business degree with relevant employment experience in a full-time salaried placement provides you with a real competitive advantage.

Work placements take place between Stages 2 and 3 of your degree. Companies who have participated in the scheme in recent years include Accenture, Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, IBM, Mazars, Morgan Stanley and The Walt Disney Company.

For many of these companies, this is an ideal opportunity to discover new talent or to staff one-year projects by tapping into an international pool of dynamic students who have, by this time, already gained a consolidated knowledge and understanding of current business issues. For our students, it presents the chance to put theory into practice as well as make a valuable contribution to an organisation.

Our Accounting and Management programme is accredited by the UK professional accountancy bodies, leading to exemption from specific examinations dependent on your choice of modules.

Our supportive and flexible approach to teaching gives you the confidence and skills you need to follow the path that most interests you.The Accounting and Management programme is taught at our modern, shared Medway campus which provides a stunning location for your studies. As well as outstanding teaching and learning facilities, the campus also has a real sense of community.

We have an excellent record of graduate employment with our graduates moving into a whole range of careers, including professional training in public practice (chartered accountancy) or in industry, commerce, the public sector, financial services or general management.
