The Graduate Diploma in Medicine and Mental Health provides a broad understanding of mental health and addiction science and the current principles of addiction management. The degree is best for nursing and medical professionals, pharmacists, psychologists, social workers, counsellors, teachers, police and corrections officials, as well as other professionals who want to develop the skills and knowledge to build careers and work effectively in the area of addiction and mental health. Taught by experts in their field, the degree covers the scientific base for dependence, mental health and associated comorbidities, comparative epidemiology, evidence based interventions, research methodology and domestic dependence and mental health policy. Graduates are prepared to attempt senior jobs in drug and alcohol organisations, policy development, research and management in several areas including public health, social work, medical education, health promotion, and therapy.
