We developed this programme in response to new roles and ways of working in practice. Suitable for any advancing healthcare professional, it is ideal for experienced practitioners who wish to develop and advance their level of knowledge and skills within their own field.

What will you study?

The course is an interprofessional MSc programme, offering the opportunity to work towards professional competencies (eg NMC). Due to its flexibility, an education and practice mentor as well as a research supervisor provide individual support. The course director will oversee all aspects of student support.

You can claim 90 credits of relevant assessment of prior learning (APL) towards the MSc, including up to 45 credits at Level 6 (L3). There is also an 'allowance within the course' of 45 credits at Level 6 (L3), if you have not already fully used your APL allowance. These L6 modules may be selected from the range of CPD modules available.

Course structure

The programme consists of a combination of four core modules and a wide range of option modules. Please note that this is an indicative list of modules and is not intended as a definitive list.

Core modules

* Personal, Professional and Leadership Developments in Advanced Practice
* Research Methods
* Research Project Planning and Management
* Dissertation

Option modules

* You can select option modules from a range of postgraduate courses (including social work and health sciences).

* Applicants will be qualified health or social care practitioners, with an honours degree from any university in the UK or Republic of Ireland or an honours degree from an approved institution of higher education outside the UK or Republic of Ireland. * Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a minimum of 2 years post qualifying experience. * Applicants can be considered who do not have a degree. Here applicants will usually demonstrate their ability to study at Masters level by attaining a B grade in a level 3 module, or passing a stand alone M level module. * It will be expected that applicants will demonstrate support from their manager and will have identified an appropriate named mentor(s) according to route and module choice.
