Aerospace Systems Technology at Dowling College offers a comprehensive educational experience designed to prepare students for dynamic careers in the aerospace industry. This program combines foundational principles of engineering, physics, and aeronautics with practical skills in aircraft and spacecraft systems. Students will engage in rigorous coursework covering aerodynamics, propulsion systems, avionics, control systems, materials science, and aerospace design. Through a combination of hands-on laboratory work, simulations, and real-world projects, learners gain valuable experience in developing, analyzing, and maintaining complex aerospace systems. The curriculum emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and practical application, ensuring graduates are well-equipped to meet industry challenges. Admissions Guidelines:
- Fill out application for Undergraduate Admission online
- Submit Official High School Transcript
- Must have earned a GPA of at least an 80
- One or two letters of recommendation
- An essay of at least 250 words on a topic of your choice
A completed application for international student admission and an application fee ($35 Undergraduate, $50 Graduate). The application must indicate a major area of study.
Required supporting documentation
The college requires that international students applying for admission must send Official or Notarized copies of the following documents.
Requirements for Undergraduate Applicants
In addition to the Application for International Student Admission we must receive:
- A copy of the picture and name page of your passport.
- At least one letter of recommendation from an educational professional.
- A bank statement showing that you have enough money available for your first year of study. You will be required to show this at your US Consulate visa interview. For the academic year this amount is about $45,000 USD. If you are planning to bring dependents you must show additional financial support of $10,000 for your spouse and $6,000 for each child. If the bank statement is not in your name, you must also include a notarized statement of support from the owner of the bank account, promising to pay your expenses during your education. You must also include certified proof of the sponsor’s income to show the ability to continue sponsorship during your entire degree program. This will also be required for the visa interview at the US Consulate in your country, to allow you to get a visa for your studies in the United States.
- Proof of Immunization against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Tuberculosis, and Meningitis. New York Public Law requires as a condition of your attendance at Dowling, that you demonstrate proof of immunization against meningitis, tuberculosis, measles, mumps, and rubella. The same law requires that Dowling College maintain a valid Certificate of Immunizations as part of your permanent student record. If you do not have the necessary immunization documents you will not be allowed into the college. Please have your doctor complete and stamp the Immunization form and send it with your other application documents. Immunizations taken before you were one year old are not acceptable.
- Applicants who seek to enroll as a degree-seeking student at Dowling College must meet the Dowling College English Language Competency Requirements. There are three ways to satisfy this requirement.1.) A student has attended an English-speaking high school, college or university for at least one year, taking credit-bearing academic courses in English.Or2.) As an Undergraduate student, you have achieved at least an iBT TOEFL score of 80, PTE 58 or IELTS band 5.0. Applicants scoring between TOEFL 60-79, PTE 44 – 57, IELTS bands 5.0 – 6.0 will be required to take Dowling non-credit ESL courses. 3.) A student must complete an English proficiency test upon arrival at Dowling College. If the student passes the test with a minimum composite score of 94 on our ACT COMPASS ESL placement exam, they will able to register for degree-seeking undergraduate classes at Dowling College. Students who do not score a minimum composite score of 94, on our ACT COMPASS ESL placement, will be required to enroll in English Languagecourses through Dowling College’s ESL program offered to non-native English speakers. Upon successful completion of the English Languageprogram, they will then be able to register for degree seeking undergraduate classes at Dowling College.
- A 250-500 word statement of purpose, explaining why you wish to come to college in the United States and what you hope to achieve.

The Fulbright Scholar Program – administered by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars – offers fellowships to U.S. and foreign scholars to lecture and/or conduct research abroad.
The traditional Fulbright Scholar Program sends 800 U.S. faculty and professionals abroad each year. Grantees lecture and conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields.

Academic Scholarships
Dowling College offers a variety of scholarships, grants, and campus employment to help students fund their education. We automatically review all freshman applicants for any institutional aid they might be eligible for. SAT scores are not considered when awarding scholarships.
Financial aid is any scholarship, grant, loan, or part-time employment offered for the express purpose of helping a student pay education-related expenses. Such aid is usually provided by federal, state, institutional or private agencies. If you qualify, you may be offered a combination of these types of aid, depending on your financial need and the funds available.
Who Should Apply for Aid?
The only way to tell if you are eligible to receive aid is to apply for it. Many factors are taken into account when awarding aid. Therefore, everyone who needs financial assistance to attend college should apply.
You may only be interested in part-time work, a scholarship or a federal student loan. All of these are considered financial aid. Currently, more than 3 out of every 4 students at Dowling College receive some form of financial assistance.
Who is Eligible to Apply?
Eligibility requirements for most financial aid programs at Dowling College are listed here. Some programs will list additional eligibility requirements.
You must:
- Be a U.S. citizen, national or permanent resident alien
- Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment, at least halftime, in a degree program
- Make satisfactory academic progress towards a degree
- Register with the Selective Service Administration, if required to do so
- Not be in default on a loan or owe a repayment on a previous financial aid award received at Dowling College or any other institution
- Establish financial need by submitting a completed FAFSA to the U.S. Dept. of Ed. at www.FAFSA.ed.gov
Transfer Students:
At the time of admission to the College, a transfer student‘s transcript will be evaluated and a special Core Program developed for that student. The resulting personalized requirements will provide a general education program that meets the College‘s goals for the transfer student as they relate to the five areas of the Core curriculum. This will include a Senior Seminar and whatever Core courses are required to meet the core curriculum goals.
First Year Experience Program
All freshmen (i.e., students admitted with fewer than thirty college credits) are required to complete a three-credit First Year Experience (FYE) content-based course. Topics are offered in a wide range of subject areas. The course provides academic guidance helping students make the transition from high school to college.
The program encourages students to develop reading, writing, and research skills.
The course enhances the benefits of a liberal arts education by preparing students to become critical thinkers.
