Anthropologists study the worldпПХs peoples and their material and non-material cultures, often in a comparative framework. Anthropology focuses on diverse areas of social and cultural life such as religious rituals, livelihood strategies, international development, health and illness, gender, human rights, and environmental stewardship in remote communities as well as cosmopolitan centres. As a student of Anthropology at Carleton, you will acquire the analytical tools and practical experience through courses, seminars, and work experience. YouпПХll learn about symbolic anthropology, development and underdevelopment, indigenous peoples (particularly those of Canada), and applied and participatory anthropology. Two concentrations are available so that Honours Anthropology students are able to specialize formally in an area of particular interest: Applied and Participatory Anthropology; Power and Everyday Life.
