What you eat is critical to your physical and emotional health. As a student in Applied Human Nutrition, you will learn about the physical, social, and psychological impact of the food we eat. You will examine such issues as promoting a healthy lifestyle, how personal and family circumstances affect eating habits, how disease can affect nutritional status, and how poor eating habits can contribute to illness. Your knowledge will prepare you to assist patients and clients in hospitals, clinics, schools, retirement homes, and wellness centres. The Applied Human Nutrition major is accredited by the Dietitians of Canada and will prepare you to compete for a dietetic internship.Career opportunities may take the form of registered dietitian, nutrition educator, public health strategist, fitness consultant, product development specialist, and resource counsellor.
