Description

Key components of the course encompass landscape and settlement studies, artefact analysis, the study of human and animal remains, religious and ritual practice, marine archaeology, forensic science, anthropology, cultural change through time, and the practice and management of archaeology in the UK and abroad.

Bournemouth is ideally situated with some of Britain's most iconic archaeological and historic sites, such as Boxgrove, Avebury, Stonehenge, Maiden Castle, Corfe Castle and Fishbourne Roman Palace, all within easy traveling distance.

You will have the opportunity to gain high quality work experience with placements on archaeological excavations in the UK and abroad. Recent excavations have included sites in the USA, Greece and Russia. Many graduates have gone on to postgraduate study; others are now working with English Heritage, Historic Scotland, Wessex Archaeology, the Oxford Archaeological Unit, as well as a host of museums and archaeological consultancies.
