Choose Kingston's Architecture (ARB/RIBA Part 2) MArch

This ARB/RIBA Part 2-accredited architecture course was previously known as the Architecture Graduate Diploma. The course operates within the guidelines stipulated by professional accreditation, but has its own unique character. Being taught in an art-and-design-based faculty means that design is at the heart of our approach.

What will you study?

During this course you will develop as architectural designers and thinkers and move towards the ability to engage in architectural practice as independent and reflective practitioners. You will build on and further develop the knowledge, understanding and skill acquired during your first degree and a recommended initial period of work-based learning. The emphasis of this course is therefore to deepen and consolidate existing learning and skill, rather than to introduce a wide range of new subject material.

Assessment

Design projects, reports, seminars, presentations, essays, case studies, dissertation.

Many of the staff in the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture are research active. This ensures they are in touch with the latest thinking and bring best practice to your studies. For example:

* the Sustainable Design Research Group is leading projects that connect design and designers with sustainability issues. Recent research projects have focused on designing and manufacturing with recycled materials and building a 'sustainable materials' library for designers; and
* the Landscape Interface Studio is a consultant to the North SEAfaring project, which addresses spatial planning, regeneration and the maritime identity of seaports.
