The Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Science offers students an overall understanding of contemporary cultural and social advancements through a range of study subjects, in addition to a capacity to understand complex scientific data in a field area. It unites a variety of key humanities and scientific skills and knowledge related to current and projected industry needs. Students learn to communicate their knowledge in ways that address the issues facing humanity and Earth. Students also develop communication, analytical and research skills developed to ease their professional and personal development. Drawing on the expertise of prominent educators, researchers and industry experts, the class enables students to design a degree to develop a unique array of interdisciplinary skills.

Graduates of the Digital Advertising Technology major Will Probably Likely Be eligible for membership of the Australasian Interactive Media Industry Association (AIMIA). Candidates of the Journalism major will be eligible to submit an application for registration of the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA).

  • Year 12 or equivalent
  • VCE prerequisites: Units 3 and 4: a minimum study score of 25 in English (or equivalent) or 30 in English (EAL)
  • And Components 3 and 4: a minimum study score of 20 in any Mathematics. Added performance criteria and prerequisite requirements may also apply. English language requirements - satisfactory completion of a few of these following: Swinburne's English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 higher level level) with overall 65%, all skills 65 percent
  • Minimum IELTS overall group of 6.0 (Academic Module) with no single band below 6.0
  • TOEFL iBT (internet-based) minimum score of 75 with a reading band a minimum of 18 and writing band a minimum of 20
  • Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 50 (no communicative skills less than 50)
  • Any equal assessment of English language proficiency. Note: A necessity for all lessons, the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) can now be done online campus at Hawthorn.
