Aviation Management at Massey University offers a comprehensive qualification designed to prepare students for dynamic careers within the aviation industry. The BAvMan is a 360 credits programme of study. Students are required to complete 150 credits of compulsory courses from Part A of the Schedule for the BAvMan. These courses focus on human factors, research methods, environmental impacts, management and social psychology. 120 Aviation elective credits are selected from Part B of the Schedule and elective courses to the total value of 90 credits, complete the 360 credit requirements of the degree. These electives are normally selected from Part B, however, they can be selected from schedules of any other undergraduate degrees offered at Massey.

Most courses for the Bachelor of Aviation Management are available internally at the Manawatu Campus located in Palmerston North. All of the courses for the degree are offered via distance learning in New Zealand or by distance learning in Singapore through the Singapore Aviation Academy in conjunction with Massey University. Other international teaching sites are being developed. 

To enrol in the Bachelor of Aviation Management programme you must qualify for undergraduate admission, either through Bursaries and Scholarship Examinations, NCEA Level 3, New Zealand University Entrance, Admission with Equivalent Status, Discretionary Entrance or Adult Admission.

Undergraduate academic entrance requirements

  • For most undergraduate level programmes, the minimum academic entry requirement is successful completion of a qualification equivalent to the New Zealand Year 13 - NCEA Level 3 University Entrance. International students need to check the equivalency of their secondary school qualification by reviewing the list of Academic Admission Requirements by Country. 
     
  • International students who have previously studied at a New Zealand secondary school should refer to the secondary school requirements section. 
     
  • International students who have completed 3 x B at level 5 or 6 passes in the New Zealand Diploma of Business may apply for entry into a Bachelor's programme.
    • An NZQA transcript as formal evidence of the NZDipBus results is required before credit will be assessed and only papers with a minimum grade of B will be assessed for credit.
    • The English language requirements can be met by: 
      1. A minimum IELTS 5.5 (or equivalent) used to gain entry to the NZDipBus or,
      2. A recent IELTS 6.0 with no band score less than 5.5

Graduate Diplomas
Admission to a Graduate Diploma requires successful completion of a three year diploma or undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution.

The Massey University Albany Vice Chancellor's Natural Sciences Excellence Award was established to support new students enrolling at the Albany campus, Massey University with a previous record of  academic excellence in the natural sciences. Recipients are expected to be committed to studying and completing the Bachelor of Natural Sciences degree.

Massey University Albany Vice-Chancellor’s Innovation and Academic Excellence Scholarship

The Massey University Albany Vice Chancellor's Innovation and Academic Excellence Scholarship was established to support new students enrolling fulltime at the Albany campus, Massey University who  are currently attending a North Shore or West Auckland secondary school who have a minimum of 20 NCEA L2 credits (or equivalent in CIE or IB) with a record of excellence or merit.

Massey Business School Future Leaders Scholarship

The Massey Business School Future Leaders Scholarship was established to recognise and support future leaders enrolling in full-time business programmes at Massey University who have a previous record of leadership and high academic achievement. 

Encouraging Kiwis into Engineering Massey University Full-Fees Scholarship

The Encouraging Kiwis into Engineering Massey University Full-Fees Scholarship was established to encourage more students into engineering, particularly those currently studying maths, physics, and/or chemistry. Applicants are expected to be studying NCEA Level 3 or equivalent in Mathematics with Calculus, Physics and perhaps also Chemistry; have involvement in extracurricular Science, Engineering or Technology and show leadership and creative skills.
