Since 1969, The University of Texas at Austin has prepared biomedical engineeris to take positions within academia, the health care field, government, and industry. The Department of Biomedical Engineering’s nationally recognized faculty are developing or have already attained leading positions in areas such as treatment of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis, orthopedic disorders, and eye diseases, as well as in the fields of tissue replacement, imaging and diagnostics, biomaterials, drug delivery, bioinformatics, and systems biology.
