Biomedical Technology

In this bachelor's programme you will learn to work toward a very special goal: the wellbeing of people with a medical problem. To come up with the desired technological solutions you'll combine knowledge from different disciplines: physics, mathematics, chemistry, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, biology, and medicine. You'll learn e.g. how to measure forces endured by a knee joint, how MRI works, but also how chemically-made materials function within the body − in order for the suture you design to always be strong enough and never dissolve too quickly. At the University of Twente you will learn how to solve problems in a creative way. In projects you will be challenged to find solutions to real-world problems. As a result you will become increasingly skilled at tackling these problems. You'll make plans, look for information, experiment, cooperate, and present. In so doing you will learn how to solve problems in a systematic scientific way as well as to think innovatively. These skills are very popular with future employers such as research institutes, hospitals, or manufacturers of medical equipment.
