Develop your abilities and practical knowledge in the plant and animal sciences, and also expand your comprehension of the science and regulation of biosecurity. Begin your studies having a foundation in mathematics, microbiology, chemistry and research procedures. Subsequently your specialised issues include: Plants and creatures physiology and anatomy plant and animal production animal health and diseases plant insects and diseases epidemiology bio-security surveillance and tracking hazard management legislation, policy and regulation compliance and authorities. In your last year, you are going to finish a biosecurity industry project. Throughout this 2 month industry placement, you are going to appraise and report on biosecurity practice. This course unites your interests in agriculture, animals and plants with science to allow you to pursue a very more profitable and practical career. You will acquire knowledge to help protect our farms, livestock and plants from insects and disease, help prevent the attack of weeds and feral animals, and protect people and the community by zoonotic diseases. Develop your knowledge and practical knowledge in plant and animal sciences, and expand your knowledge of the science and regulation of biosecurity. You will begin with foundation studies in mathematics, microbiology, chemistry and research procedures. In your last year, you are going to finish a biosecurity industry project. Throughout this 2 month industry placement, you are going to appraise and report on biosecurity practice at work.

This course is accredited by Both the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) and Also the Eligibility is aligned with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) level 7 and Box Hill Institute Graduate Attributes. If you have successfully completed the Diploma of Laboratory Technology, then you may qualify for 24 credit points (4 units). Successful completion of the degree will enable one to make an application for an Honours or Master's degree in a related field.
