Since 2009-2010, the university master's degree in Business Law has provided a holistic, multidisciplinary vision of the legal framework governing business economics. In this period it has had a large number of students, which shows there is great interest in business law.

The programme caters to the needs of researchers and academics and, at the same time, professionals working in the business law field.

The master's degree in Business Law has become a hub connecting the departments of Private Law, Public Law and Historical-legal Sciences, Political Science and Public Law and Business Economics, along with several research groups at the UAB.

The master's programme is classroom-based and is taught in Spanish.
As a university master's degree, it leads to the PhD in Law. It also offers the option to carry out work placements in businesses and law firms.

Career options

Specialised legal guidance for the business sector and/or qualified research functions in commerciallaw, receivership law, commercial recruitment, business taxation, tax law, labour law, economic criminal law, civil responsibility law, consumer rights, e-recruitment, private international law, maritimebusinesses and companies, and other subjects within business law.

Teaching timetable

Classes start in October and end in May. Classes are taught onsite and attendance is compulsory. They are taught from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The exams take place at the end of each module.

The university Master's degree in Business Law comprises 60 ECTS to be taken in a single academic year in 2 semesters of 30 ECTS each.

It is divided into 7 compulsory modules comprising 54 ECTS, and 1 optional module of 6 ECTS, to be chosen from an offer of 3 modules. From among the compulsory modules, students must carry out a research project for the Master's dissertation of 6 ECTS.

Ideal student profile

This master's degree is aimed at university graduates interested in legal issues that affect business in general (commercial, tax, employment, criminal, civil, international, maritime, accounting, etc.).

The Master's degree in Business Law of the UAB, in order to promote maximum mobility between the different disciplines within occupational sciences and humanities, is open to graduates in Law, Economics, Business Management and Administration, Industrial Relations and, on the authorisation of the Master's coordinator, any other area of humanities and the Social Sciences.
