As the first authorized master’s degree in name of China Studies by Ministry of Education, Master of China Studies (MCS) is the most influential one in China. MCS has the largest number of enrolled international students in Zhejiang University and has attracted 267 students from 44 countries since 2010. In 2014, MCS was selected as one of the six Youth of Excellence Scheme of China (YES China Program), which is a high-level master program with Chinese government scholarship.

MCS professors come from overseas education background and have rich experience in teaching international students. MCS also have more than 10 foreign guest professors from partner universities to offer series of lectures of “Overseas China Studies” each year. MCS professors, specializing in the disciplines of humanities and social sciences, will help you analyze China issues from multiple and global perspectives.

Requirements

  • They (except for English native speakers) must have an internet-based TOEFL test score 90 or IELTS test score 6.5 (or above).
  • Application Form for Admission to Zhejiang  University pasted with a recent photograph (white background, 35mm×45mm in size).
  • A photocopy of passport
  • Form for Provisional Acceptance of International Student by ZJU Professor
  • Highest degree certificates, which must be original documents or notarized copies. If applicants are university students, they shall provide an official pre-graduation certificate showing their student status and stating expected graduation date. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
  • Academic transcripts during Bachelor’s degree study, which must be original documents or notarized copies. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
  • Personal statement, in Chinese or English, should include study and work experience, reasons for application and study proposal. No less than 1500 words.
  • Two letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors, in Chinese or English. (Professors’ signature, contact phone number and email address must be put on the letter.) 
  • Published academic papers or other academic achievements. (If any)
  • Remittance receipt of the application fee (RMB 400 Yuan)
