The curriculum of the Master's course imparts a multidisciplinary and academic education in economics and business studies, offering an international, interdisciplinary and application-oriented approach. Students will find a comparative Chinese-European perspective in the majority of the modules. In addition to this cross-cultural learning and teaching environment, a compulsory semester in China will round off the programme.
The four-semester postgraduate programme consists of three academic semesters and the fourth semester for the Master's thesis.
Classes are held in seminar form, with participants working individually and in groups.
The lecturers at the Berlin School of Economics and Law and at SWUFE Chengdu will also host international guest lecturers.

SWUFE Chengdu will confer the Chinese Master of Arts (MA) on non-Chinese students if the following conditions are fulfilled:
1. The first two semesters at the Berlin School of Economics and Law and the third semester at SWUFE Chengdu have all been successfully completed; the fourth semester can be spent according to the requirements for the thesis and the preference of the students.
2. Students are registered at SWUFE Chengdu for the entire two years of the programme there.
3. Students have passed the special Chinese history course at SWUFE Chengdu.
4. The Master's thesis is submitted in English to SWUFE and an abstract is submitted in Chinese.
5. One of the supervisors comes from SWUFE.
6. The Master's thesis is successfully defended in the oral exam before a SWUFE examination board.

Upon successful completion of the Master's programme, the internationally recognised Master of Arts (MA) degree will be awarded by both institutions.

Course objectives

Students will find a comparative Chinese-European perspective in the majority of the modules. In addition to this cross-cultural learning and teaching environment, a compulsory semester in China will round off the programme.
Graduates are qualified to pursue a professional career in companies, institutions, and organisations that are related to both world economic regions, Europe and China - for example, employment as a senior professional or manager with responsibility for the work output of teams.
Language requirements
Very good knowledge of English
The level of English proficiency should correspond to a TOEFL test with a minimum score of 550 points (paper-based), 213 points (computer-based), or 79 points (Internet-based), to an IELTS result of 6.5 points or other equivalent certificates.
Academic requirements
Prerequisites for application:
- A recognised international undergraduate degree (Bachelor's); four-year Bachelor's degree for Chinese students, or at least 180 ECTS credit points
- Excellent knowledge of English equivalent to a TOEFL certificate of at least 79 points (iBT) or 213 points (CBT), IELTS overall band score 6.5 or other equivalent certificates
- Letter of motivation
- CV including study semesters or internships abroad
- Interview including a short written paper
- One year of relevant professional experience is desirable (applicants without professional experience may be admitted if they demonstrate a solid background in economics and business)

Enrolment fees
There are no extra enrolment and administration fees.
In addition to the tuition fees, students have to pay approx. 190 EUR (subject to change) per semester for a semester ticket, which allows them to use the Berlin Public Transport (BVG) for six months.
Costs of living
The cost of living in Berlin is estimated at approx. 850 EUR per month. This includes rent in a student residence hall (private accommodation costs from 300 to 500 EUR per month), living expenses, health insurance, books and materials, and incidental expenses.

There are many job opportunities for students in Berlin.
Non-EU students are permitted to work within specified limits.
Arrival support
The CEEBS study office offers an orientation day to new students and assists with administrative matters such as residence permits, insurance, etc.
