Description
The Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) is designed for students wishing to pursue a career in accounting and/or finance, either as an accountant in private practice or employed in industry, commerce or the public sector. It allows students to major solely in Professional Accounting, or both Professional Accounting and Applied Finance and provides you with the knowledge and technical skills you need to succeed in the accounting/finance field.
This is the degree to take you straight into the accounting profession. Students can satisfy the educational requirements for admission to the major professional accounting bodies (CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA)) by including relevant units in their program of study.

The Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) offers an intense understanding of accounting principles, standards, methods and techniques to apply in real life business environments. It provides graduates an excellent opportunity of acquiring both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to develop a vivid career in accounting within a local and global context. It also builds a solid foundation for further professional development to highly motivated graduates.

Communicate extensively to a range of stakeholders using appropriate and diverse written, verbal, numerical, statistical, graphical and visual methods to both communicate technical information as well as build rapport with clients, colleagues and others, whilst recognising the particular importance of the issues of disclosure of adequate information and reporting and transparency in the accounting profession. Global Perspectives
Demonstrate an awareness of the global perspectives of and international developments within the accounting discipline, including international regulatory frameworks in the accounting and auditing areas, such as the possible convergence of US GAAP and IFRS, and the GRI vision of disclosure in economic, environmental and social performance. Demonstrate the ability to identify accounting and finance issues and problems and to collect, organise, analyse, present and evaluate relevant information using appropriate formats, methods and techniques for the accounting discipline, both in domestic and international contexts. Recommended studies: Any two units of Mathematics. For some units in the economics, finance and quantitative statistics areas it is recommended that students have previously studied mathematics. Also Accounting, Economics and Business.
