All candidates must choose a language combination of 2, 3 or 4 languages, amongst Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish. Language combinations consist of a mother tongue or primary language and either one other active language or two or three other languages, one of which may be active and the other(s) passive. The choice of combination depends on the candidates level of proficiency (active or passive).

Career opportunities

The training received at FTI opens up a number of opportunities in both the public and private sectors. Upon the completion of their studies, students of the interpreting stream may find work in-house or as freelance interpreters in a large number of areas and professions, such as international organisations, NGOs, publishing, translation agencies, administration, documentation centres, research institutes, banking, insurance, courts, the media and teaching.

A Bachelor in Multilingual Communication, or an equivalent degree. In addition, students must pass an entrance exam and have an excellent command of the languages in their chosen combination. They must also provide evidence that they have spent at least four months in a country where one of the passive languages in their chosen combination is the official language. Additional courses may be required depending on prior studies.
