Career prospects

A Master's Degree in Conservation and Restoration is the qualification required in order to operate autonomously and independently (freelance) as a restorer throughout Europe, including Switzerland. Those holding the qualification are also eligible to enrol for PhD programmes at a number of universities outside Switzerland.

Admission to the Master's programme in Conservation-Restoration is subject to having passed an aptitude test which is open to applicants with a Bachelors Degree in Conservation or with a qualification considered as equivalent.The aptitude test assesses the following aspects: professional and academic curriculum, manual skills in the specialist sector, the ability to understand observed phenomena of alteration and degradation and the methodological approach.
