The course will provide an excellent opportunity for students to learn more about the application of psychological theory to issues of relevance to criminal and legal psychology. The course covers material relevant to a range of issues and forensic concerns including those related to offenders, victims, children and adults.

The international focus of the course makes it idea for those students who wish to engage in criminal or legal psychology within international settings and is ideal for international and European students who are interested in this area.

Course Structure
The course includes a range of applied and theoretical modules that will give you a strong grounding in the practice and delivery of criminal, forensic and legal psychology.

Core modules:

* Psychology and Criminal Behaviour
* Introduction to Assessment and Intervention
* Investigation and Prosecution of Criminal Behaviour
* Forensic Psychology: Context and Practice
* Forensic Literature Review

In addition, you should study one of the following:

* Research Methods (CAFMH)
* Data Analysis

Optional mdules include:

You should select two of the following modules

* Psychology and Policing
* Psychology and the Courts
* Psychology and the Penal System
* Psychology and Sexual Violence
* Psychology and the Sexual Exploitation of Young People
* Applied Assessment and Intervention (Forensic settings)
* International Perspectives in Forensic Psychology

These modules all run at the same time therefore students can only study one of these. Not all of these modules are guaranteed to run every year.
Other modules may also be available for study.

Assessment
You are assessed via coursework reports, case studies, written and practical examinations.

You should have a good degree (minimum 2:2 or equivalent) in Psychology or a Major in Psychology - that is Psychology should be the main subject area of your degree and you should have previously studied at least 2 modules of Psychological Research Methods on your degree.In addition, if English is not your first language then you will need to have an internationally recognised English Language qualification such as IELTS with a 6.5 grade overall and a minimum of 6 in each component or equivalent. English Language Requirements IELTS band: 6.5 IMPORTANT NOTE: Since April 2014 the ETS tests (including TOEFL and TOEIC) are no longer accepted for Tier 4 visa applications to the United Kingdom. The university might still accept these tests to admit you to the university, but if you require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK and begin your degree programme, these tests will not be sufficient to obtain your Visa.
