Description
Criminology and psychology both examine crime, criminal behaviour and criminality and the BSc Hons Criminology & Criminal Psychology programme explores the complexity of the relationship and the way in which the two disciplines interact and complement each other.
The programme recognises the evolving nature of the subject area and aims to incorporate rapid social change as well as the cross fertilisation of ideas and methods unique to both disciplines. As well as adding to the Schools existing portfolio of programmes in the field of criminology, this degree also offers students the possibility of taking a one year postgraduate diploma in the Universitys Department of Psychology & Counselling, thereby achieving British Psychological Society recognition.
The aims of the programme are:
- To provide students with a broad education in criminology and criminal psychology
- To develop an understanding of the relationship that exists between criminology and psychology
- To identify the key concepts and theoretical approaches that underpin criminology and psychology
- To allow students to develop and conduct independent research.
