Description

Design engineers are innovators who develop products and the systems used to make them. Our award-winning department will encourage you to aim high and achieve your design engineering ambitions.

Why study BEng Design Engineering at Middlesex?

Our degree produces confident designers and the national awards won by our students demonstrate the quality of their work (find out more in the Student Work tab above). You will explore the design and implementation of digital systems and become proficient in using the latest industry software. You will create new designs and also learn to improve the performance and efficiency of existing products. To support career success, you will build a professional portfolio of work, take part in a regular guest lecture series by industry professionals, and carry out exciting work placements in companies and organisations across London.

Our suite of Design Engineering courses allow you to study a common first year and then either continue on the pure Design Engineering course, or choose to focus on one of the following pathways:

  • Analysing and developing robotics systems

  • developing analogue and digital systems

  • developing systems that control physical motion

Course highlights:

  • We encourage you to demonstrate your talent by entering your work in prestigious awards, which can support career success

  • You will extend your industry knowledge through our series of weekly delivered by some of the UKs leading design experts and companies

  • If you apply for our four- year MEng Design Engineering course you will gain a masters qualification as soon as you successfully complete your undergraduate degree and if you apply in Year 1 you can receive funding to cover your postgraduate course fees

  • If you decide to take up one of the pathway routes, you still have the option of changing back to the standard Design Engineering degree at the end of your second year
