The Design program at Monash University offers a range of financing options to support students throughout their studies. Domestic students can access various Commonwealth supported places (CSP), which significantly reduce the tuition fees compared to full-fee paying places. These Commonwealth supported places are subsidized by the Australian government, and students are required to pay a student contribution amount, which varies depending on the course and unit enrolment. International students, on the other hand, are generally required to pay full tuition fees, which are detailed on the university's official fee schedule.
For domestic students, there are also numerous scholarship opportunities available, including merit-based scholarships, equity scholarships, and specific awards for students enrolling in design-related disciplines. These scholarships can provide financial assistance that covers tuition fees, living expenses, or a combination of both. Monash University also offers financial aid and grants for students experiencing financial hardship, allowing eligible students to access emergency funding and repayment plans.
Students may also consider external financing options such as student loans, although these are generally facilitated through government programs like the HECS-HELP scheme for Australian citizens and eligible residents, which allows students to defer tuition fees until after graduation. International students typically do not have access to these schemes and are expected to arrange private financing or sponsorships.
Part-time study options are available, which can help reduce the immediate financial burden by spreading tuition and living costs over a longer period. The university encourages prospective students to explore all available financial pathways and to contact the university’s financial aid office for personalized advice. Additionally, students may seek part-time employment opportunities, with the university’s career services providing support to find work placements suitable for students’ schedules.
In summary, Monash University provides comprehensive financial options for students enrolled in the Design program, including government-supported places for domestic students, scholarships, financial aid grants, and flexible study arrangements. International students are advised to plan their finances thoroughly, considering tuition fees and living costs, and to explore external funding sources or sponsorships. Students are encouraged to review the university’s official website and contact the financial aid office for the most current information and detailed eligibility criteria.
