Description

The BA (Hons) International Economics and Finance explores economics and its effects on financial systems and global organisations. In doing so, it produces graduates with a holistic knowledge of international economics and the financial techniques to meet the needs of the global marketplace.
You will develop an understanding contemporary economics and financial trends, techniques for problem solving and analysis and build an understanding and awareness of the strengths and limitations of both disciplines.
Given the ongoing global economic crisis there has never been a more exciting time to study these two key areas of global significance and debate. Based on academic knowledge with a strong focus on the financial markets, this programme will enhance your technical, quantative, analytical and problem solving skills to ensure you are able to critically respond to the challenges currently occurring in the economy.

Course Content

Year 1: Introduction to Economics & Data Analysis, Fundamentals of Financial Management, Financial Services Environment, and modules in Employability and Society
Year 2: Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Fundamentals of Corporate Finance, either Banking or Personal Finance, and modules in Employability
Year 3: Microeconomic Analysis, Macroeconomic Analysis, Pensions & Pension Planning, Corporate Finance & Financial Strategies, Optional modules in Finance or Economics, Research Methods
Year 4: Honours Dissertation, Fundamentals of Econometrics, International Finance and Investment Analysis, Honours’ Optional modules in Finance and Economics

Requirements

HigherBBBC, A Level: CCC, ILC-HigherB2 B2 B2 C1, IB Diploma: 24 points, BTEC: Level 3 Extended Diploma considered for Year 1 (equal 280 tariff points).

Essential subjects:English (Higher/GSCE B, ILC-H), Mathematics (S Grade 2/Int 2 C/GCSE B/ILC-O A2)

Recommended subjects:Maths at Higher / A Level
