Description
This new course is distinctive in a number of ways and you will develop as a criticaly informed, agile and resourceful graduate. The course will:
- Provide a broader exposure to the different specialist areas of economics compared to a typical degree in economics - offering a range of optional areas of specialism to choose from (e.g. labour economics, international economics)
- Embody a number of units based on a guided research principle intended to encourage and develop student-centred learning
- Encourage you to understand the practical applications of economic theory and methodology, particularly in the context of global issues
- Expose you to innovative and diverse learning and teaching methods with an emphasis on student-centred learning
- Exhibit a strong commitment to the development of personal and professional initiative, effectiveness and, above all, employability.
At the end of the course, you will be able to apply economics to a range of problems and appreciate its relevance in a variety of situations. You will graduate with a firm foundation of knowledge about the workings of economics systems and the analytical skills and appreciation of finance disciplines that are relevant across the globe. You will also be able to confidently find solutions for social, political and environmental issues in the real world.
You can choose to study over three years full-time or four years with an optional placement year after completing your second year.
