Located in the U of U Center for Emergency Programs, the emergency medical services emphasis prepares students to serve the community as an allied health professional in emergency medical response. Certifications available within the degree program include: EMT, EMT-advanced, paramedic, and wilderness / remote rescue technician. The rescue skills that students learn are applicable to the fields of:

  • Firefighting,
  • law enforcement,
  • rural response and emergency,
  • disaster preparedness,
  • search and rescue,
  • and a variety of other professions.

There are four different interest areas from which a student can choose: management, wilderness rescue, and community response/fire services.

    (Note: The math requirement does not apply for the school health emphasis)

  4. Transcripts (mark sheets, school records, grades) for secondary school (9-12). Official English translations must be provided if the transcripts are only in the native language.
  5. TOEFL: 80 (Internet-based test), 550 (paper-based test), or 213 (computer-based test)*
  6. IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score report demonstrating an adequate knowledge of English*
