Energy for Society is an interdisciplinary Bachelor's degree program offered by Hanze University of Applied Sciences, designed to prepare students for the evolving energy sector. Throughout the programme you will work and learn in close co-operation with your peers, professional practitioners, researchers and education staff using real
life projects. This environment will enable you to develop the knowledge and skills needed to:

  • mobilize change in evolving landscapes by navigating a diversity of interests, creating visions and solutions leading to innovative opportunities in existing and new networks and if needed challenge the status quo 
  • co-develop energy transition strategies and support their implementation within multi-stakeholder contexts taking place in complex changing environments, leveraging relevant theoretical and practical knowledge
  • integrate the acquired interdisciplinary knowledge for handling the complexity of energy community development
  • make and evaluate judgments within the setting of energy transition and community development in the face of uncertainty
  • engage with stakeholders (specialist and non-specialist audiences) using communication styles appropriate to the context
  • independently conduct practice-oriented scientific research
  • study in a manner that may be largely self-directed or autonomous and take responsibility for their own personal learning process while actively engaging in communities of learners
  • a Bachelor of Economics (BEc), 
  • a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA),
  • a Bachelor of Communication (BComm),
  • a Bachelor of Social Science (B.Soc.Sc/B.Soc.Sci),
  • a Bachelor of Environmental Science (B.Env.Sc)
  • or a bachelor's in an equivalent field. 

International students should provide proof of English language proficiency: IELTS score ≥ 6.5 or TOEFL score ≥ 575. Students who have a qualification from the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or the United States are exempted from this requirement. A letter of motivation is also required.
