This qualification is part of the Steel and Engineering Training Package. It is for people employed as a trainee of draftsperson employed in specialist technology or manufacturing sectors like in mechanical, equipment construction and maintenance, steel fabrication, mechanical services, electrical services, liquid electricity or piping gathering businesses. Students will acquire knowledge and skills to successfully create detail drawings according to engineering layouts and Australian Standards (AS). The abilities they can build up include use of computer-aided design (CAD) software works and capacity to employ discipline and industry specific knowledge to make variations, produce drawings and schematics for specialised engineering-related regions of industry. Other skills covered within this class may consist of information gathering, such as onsite visits, calculationsand research and consultations.
