The Master of Fine Art (MFA) is designed for BFA or equivalent pupils who would like to help develop their personal studio practice toward a high degree of specialised expertise and qualified expertise. The course exemplifies that the National Art School's belief in the studio-based model of learning that facilitates dialogue between studio practice and theory. The application is delivered within two academic years at a full-time analysis manner. The class involves a combination of both coursework and research styles of study as a way to support the evolution of independent enquiry through studio practice and research at a post graduate level. MFA students propose and tackle the evolution of a Studio scientific study in just a selected studio field. Over the course of the 2 years, candidates are expected to create a highly developed and resolved body of work with a written dissertation which gives a critical context for their studio work. Students are provided with studio space and use of workshop centers within their Studio Specialisation field and also their self-directed studio project is encouraged and supervised by academic faculty whose own clinics and specialised knowledge are related to this candidate's project. Studio Specialisation is Given in the studio areas of: Ceramics, Drawing, Painting, Photomedia, Printmaking and Sculpture.
