Fine Arts (Creative Writing) and Law

Both creative writing and law require high-calibre, sophisticated communication. Students will continue to work intensively on writing in many of forms and genres, including novels, short stories, creative non-fiction, memoir, genre writing, ebooks, electronic media, editing, and emerging and new kinds; and also build pro writing skills for professional applications via deep engagement with industry contexts. Students may also undertake job work to publish a sustained work in a genre of their choice. The course also gives a strong base in contemporary law knowledge and technical abilities such as critical analysis, problem solving and research that may equip students to their careers. Students may choose electives that align with their interests and develop practical and hands-on experience. They reap the benefits of meaningful connections with visible industry companies and classes with leading and internationally renowned law experts. They're also able to pursue work experience throughout industry internships and global exchanges. Career options include working in the legal fraternity, or even being a writer in legalities in creative or publishing writing industries, copyright, intellectual property law or at legal-related roles inside the publishing industry.

Graduates meet the academic requirements for admission as a solicitor and/or barrister in all Australian states and territories. It is also recognized for admission purposes in West and East Malaysia, India, Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
