This two-year program is designed to provide the understanding on the connection between the composition and the quality and functions of food. The program provides education and training for the competence for working in the research and development food industry and for continuation in research in the various fields of food sciences. The courses are jointly organized by Food Development Discipline of the Technical Degree Program of Biotechnology and the Food Chemistry Discipline of the Master's Degree Program of Biochemistry at the Department of Biochemistry.
The curricula of the Faculty are confirmed every second year in spring. As this is a new Master's Degree Programme, the curriculum published is preliminary and will be confirmed in April 2014 for the academic years 2014-2016.

There are no tuition fees for students studying in the MDP in Food Development. However, please notice that the students are responsible for covering the costs of living themselves as the University of Turku does not offer scholarships or other financial assistance to its students. For the Finnish Immigration Service to grant a student residence permit for Finland the student is required to prove his/her means of support (6720 Euros/year).
