The Health Sciences programme trains professionals who are engaged in the illness and health of individuals and society as a whole. It is characterised by its broad setup: as a student, you approach health from a variety of relevant scientific perspectives. After all, health problems are usually caused and maintained by a combination of factors. When studying a health problem, for example, obesity in children, you can study the effects of genetic predispositions, psychological factors and social surroundings. However, you can also examine such factors as access to health care, the influence of fashion, advertising and health education, international food regulations and the effect of income. This makes Health Sciences at Maastricht the most comprehensive programme of its kind in Europe. Growing numbers of international students are following our programme, which is renowned in both the Netherlands and abroad, and offers excellent opportunities.
