Human Media Interaction focuses on intelligent interactive systems that can automatically respond to a user’s emotions and social cues and make appropriate decisions on what action to take. You will learn to understand and employ techniques to automatically interpret user actions from different input modalities. You will learn to apply user-oriented design methodologies to use these intelligent systems in new ways and to test them in a scientific manner. We will challenge you to invent, develop, test and improve new generations of intelligent systems. Subjects include natural language processing, virtual agents, ambient entertainment, social robotics and artificial intelligence. The programme combines theory, technical expertise and skills from computer science, electrical engineering, interaction technology, user-oriented design methodologies and psychology. It offers a wealth of exciting research, design and development opportunities. You could become an interaction or user experience designer, an interactive systems engineer, a human factors expert, a usability engineer or pursue a career in business development, product management or consulting.
