Information Systems

The degree programme has both research and coursework components. Through coursework in the first year, candidates learn about the latest trends in the information systems environment, issues in IS management and advances in IS research. Students are introduced to the research process in the early stages of the course in order to formulate a research topic, and the second year of the course entails the student completing a research report under faculty supervision. The coursework and research components each constitute 50% of the degree.

The MCom degree balances industry relevance with academic rigour and students can expect a highly research intensive programme. 

The Masters programme is structured as a two-year part time course where students need to accumulate 240 credit points which are made up as follows: 

Year 1

• Information Systems Management 
• Trends in Information Technology
• Advances in IS Research 
• Research Methods 

Year 2 

• Empirical Research Project
