The Master of Information Technology (Business) is a conversion course that will enable students to gain professional qualifications in information technology. It is a coursework only degree designed for students who do not have a computing background and who are seeking to achieve qualifications in information technology as well as an understanding of the fundamental principles of business.

Graduates of the degree will have skills in design and development of software systems; systems analysis; database programming; IT project management; and programming of financial systems.

Course Aims
The Master of Information Technology (Business) is a two-year 'conversion' course designed for students who have completed a Bachelor in an area other than computing and who wish to obtain both qualifications in information technology and an understanding of the fundamental principles of business. The course will equip students with the knowledge and skills required to pursue a range of information technology related career paths.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

* apply skills and knowledge in algorithm design, program construction, software project management and software engineering;
* meet professional standards of software development including technical skills, documentation, software quality, collaboration and ethics;
* demonstrate skills and knowledge in a specialised area of information technology;
* communicate and work effectively as part of a team involved in an information technology project;
* adapt to the rapidly changing information technology landscape through proficiency in the fundamental knowledge and techniques attained during the course; and
* demonstrate an understanding of fundamental business principles.

1. A candidate shall:(a) have fulfilled all the requirements for admission to a Bachelor degree or qualification of equivalent standing at this or another university or tertiary institution; or(b) have completed the Graduate Certificate in Information Technology or any graduate certificate as approved by the course coordinator; or(c) have completed the Graduate Diploma in Information Technology or any graduate diploma as approved by the course coordinator.2. An applicant for candidature shall apply to the Program Director on the prescribed form.3. Admission to candidature and the date of commencement of candidature shall be determined by the School.4. After admission to candidature, a candidate shall have a program of study approved by the course coordinator.
