This course is designed to help you embark on a career in journalism, or return to a career with enhanced skills and understanding. We benefit from our proximity to London media networks, and its facilities cater to different strands, such as TV, radio and broadcast, producing multi-skilled, cutting-edge journalists who are both academically and technologically qualified to compete in todays cut-throat market. We place a strong emphasis on the practical aspects of journalism, including ethical aspects, and you can expect to emerge from the course with the knowledge and skills that the journalism industry is looking for today.

The course is taught by industry professionals, with extensive experience in producing journalism across different multimedia platforms, and students enjoy making use of our state-of-the-art £100,000 newsroom opened in 2012.

Students complete three core modules (20 credits each), three optional modules (20 credits each) and a final project (60 credits), which can be either magazine or Web-based.

* Journalism Ethics, Laws and Values
* Researching and Reporting
* Multimedia Journalism Skills

Options are chosen from a designated set including:

* Advanced Feature Journalism
* Investigative Journalism
* Writing Science
* Introduction to Arts Criticism
* Broadcast Journalism
* Work Placement

Applicants are expected to have a good Honours degree or equivalent. If you have lower qualifications but substantial relevant work experience you are also encouraged to apply. English Language Requirements IELTS band: 6.5 IMPORTANT NOTE: Since April 2014 the ETS tests (including TOEFL and TOEIC) are no longer accepted for Tier 4 visa applications to the United Kingdom. The university might still accept these tests to admit you to the university, but if you require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK and begin your degree programme, these tests will not be sufficient to obtain your Visa.
