The creation of the M.Sc. in Management as a specialist degree, coupled with AACSB accreditation, introduces a program which differs from an MBA program in that it has a research orientation, requires a thesis or practicum, has an in-depth curriculum in a particular discipline of Management, and involves one-on-one work with faculty mentors. Traditional MBA programs prepare students for general management functions with little depth of expertise in research or technical aspects of business operations. Graduates of the M.Sc. program will be uniquely positioned to undertake additional graduate work (e.g., at the doctoral level), to take up staff/research/consultative positions in private or public sector organizations in Canada, or to teach in smaller colleges in Canada or overseas.
