The programme is organised as follows:

First semester (winter semester)
  • two business administration modules
  • two technology/engineering modules
  • two specialisation modules (IM, AM, LM or GP)

Second semester (summer semester)
  • two business administration modules
  • one technology/engineering module
  • one technology/engineering project
  • one specialisation module (IM, AM, LM or GP)
  • one specialisation project / lab (IM, AM, LM or GP)

Third semester (winter semester)
  • Master's thesis, or
  • optional internship

Fourth semester (summer semester)
  • Master's thesis (if an internship was taken)

The teaching staff consists of both professors of the HTW and external lecturers from academia and industry. Please see our website for further details.

Study abroad unit(s)

Internships and theses completed abroad are supported but not mandatory. Varying from semester to semester, study projects may include trips or excursions abroad. Internships

Optional internship (in Germany or abroad) is recommended and supported.

Forms of assessment

Courses and projects are evaluated individually. The Master's thesis represents one half of the total grade.
Course evaluation is based on written examinations, research work, presentations, project results and possibly other criteria. The grading rules are provided at the beginning of each module.

Course objectives

The MBA&E will equip you with a strong interdisciplinary skill set in management and technology. The IM specialisation focuses on leading and coordinating diverse resources in order to develop systems solutions to complex technical problems. The AM specialisation will provide a broad skills set for positions in the global automotive industry. The LM specialisation gives competence in developing efficient business operations based on the Lean Management principles. The GP specialisation prepares the students for analysing markets and suppliers internationally as well as planning and executing effective procurement projects.
