This eligibility applies to people in the maritime industry seeking a Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) certification of competency in the capacity of:chief engineer on boats with an inboard engine with propulsion power <500 kW over the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) orsecond engineer on boats with an inboard engine with propulsion power <750 kW over the EEZ orchief or next engineer on boats with an outboard engine with unlimited propulsion power over the EEZ orassistant under direct supervision of a main engineer orworker from the engineroom of boats <80 m long with propulsion power <3000 kW.Licensing/Regulatory InformationThis eligibility must obtain an AMSA certification of competency as a Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 NC as defined in the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) Component D. AMSA certification will demand: achieving MAR20418 Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 surrounding Coastal) sea-service consisting of:20 days qualifying sea services and a completed AMSA approved endeavor novel or 60 days qualifying sea servicemeeting both medical and eyesight requirements stipulated in the NSCV Part D andassessment by an AMSA approved assessor utilizing the AMSA falsified technical assessment (AMPA).
