Operations and Supply Chain Management (O&SCM) is one of the most critical factors in the long-term success of a business. A business with an efficient and effective supply chain may significantly reduce all of the operating expenses connected to the chain, which contributes to a greater profit. OSCM is about planning and controlling the activities of a company as well as coordination between companies, in order to secure that the right product is delivered in the right quantities, to the right customer, at the right time, and at the right price.  Analytics refers to the scientific process of transforming data into insights for making better decisions. It involves functions such as sourcing, materials management, operations planning, distribution, logistics, sales, demand forecasting, order fulfillment, etc.

Operations and Supply Chain Analytics (OSCA) focuses on the application of analytical tools to describe, analyze, and solve operations and supply chain issues. The successful applications of OSCA drive business innovation and help companies to stay competitive in real businesses. For example, Intel realizes $25 billion by applying advanced analytics from product architecture design through supply chain planning. Walmart applies data analytics, reinforcement learning, and dynamic optimization to make an automated inventory and pricing decisions. The largest phosphate processing and exporting group in the world, OCP, uses optimization models to enhance production, marketing, and logistical processes. Alibaba Vehicle Routing Planning Algorithms enables its on-time hour level delivery.
